Consequences Of Dropping the atomic bomb

Picture
Dropping the atomic bomb had many consequences such as the Cold War between the U.S. and Russia. Both countries built up nuclear arsenals and avoided war because using the weapons would result in mutual destruction.

Eventually other countries began creating nuclear weapons which led to a world where the threat of war could lead to its avoidance because of the dire consequences of using nuclear weapons. Today democracies are concerned that the weapons will fall into the hands of countries or terrorist groups who may use them for purposes of gaining power and terrorizing their enemies.

The atomic bomb also led to the use of atomic energy for other purposes, such as electrical power. This has resulted in large amounts of poisonous nuclear waste that lasts for hundreds of years and has the ability to cause great harm to our environment and our health.
